Ruth.
She was a Moabitess.
An outsider,
a foreigner,
in a strange land.
Husband, dead.
Father in law, dead.
Brother in law, dead.
Her name
means friend.
Her sister in law
returned to her
place of birth,
a dark place.
Ruth decided
she would stay
with Naomi,
and place her faith
in the God of Israel.
For Ruth,
there was no
going back.
Bethlehem.
House of bread.
She worked morning
to evening,
in the beating sun,
gathering what
the reapers missed.
God, the God of
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,
was preparing
the way.
Her way,
and the way
of Boaz.
One decision.
She trusted in God.
Her life became
deeply rooted
in good soil.
Blessing upon
blessing,
to the glory
of God.
She surrendered
all to Elohim,
and she was
not disappointed.
God is still good!
God is still faithful!
Hallelujah!
Amen!
